LS-1 Recurrent Back Pain

Rehabilitative ultrasound imaging provides the perfect link between exercise prescription and visual feedback. Exercises for deep local stabilization just got easier! Patients will simultaneously be able to feel the correct muscles working while watching them in real-time.

LS-1 Recurrent Back Pain

The real-time ultrasound is a very useful tool. It takes out all of the guesswork with the difficult to isolate lumbar stabilizers. It takes biofeedback to another level for patient and clinician. The course is a must for clinicians with any questions about core stability or lumbar dysfunction.

Neurodynamics Upper

This course has truly changed my day-to-day practice of manual therapy. Michael put my previous knowledge of neural mobility of the upper extremity, expanded it and organized it into a user friendly, treatment spectrum. I speak for myself and patient’s when I say this course is worth taking.

Neurodynamics Lower

It is not often a course changes your day-to-day practice as a manual therapist. This course truly changed the way I assess and treat more than half of my patient population. Michael took what I new of neural mobility, specifically the SLR / slump test and placed my previous knowledge into the middle of an understandable, organized, user friendly spectrum of assessment and treatment methods.

LS-1 Ultrasound imaging

Motion stability did a tremendous job in getting local leaders in our field together to review, discuss and advance our knowledge of core stability both from an anatomical and functional point of view. Seeing this new technology in practice is a clear view into the future practice of physical therapy.

Radiculopathy is often the chief complaint in my low back and neck pain patients. After taking this course, I am more confident in the management of radicular symptoms and patients feel that I have addressed their needs in their first visit. Therefore, I am able to progress my treatment accordingly with the neurodynamic principles and interventions I’ve learned.

I am a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor at the YMCA. I have been an avid distance runner for years. In the spring of 2007 I developed a hip/gluteal injury that sidelined me. For months I visited 3 orthopedic surgeons and 3 physical therapists who were at a
loss as to what was wrong with me. I had x-rays, MRIs and a bone scan. Still no answers. I learned of Brian Yee from the third orthopedic surgeon that I visited. He didn’t know what was
wrong with me but felt confident that Brian would figure it out. After just a few visits with Brian, I was running again. In addition to the confidence that Brian gave me, his therapy was amazing. I learned more about body alignment and muscle atrophy which in turn made me a better trainer and instructor.

I steadily gained more strength and less pain, until as he predicted, I am now 100%. I am back to running, teaching group exercise classes and training my clients without the pain that I thought I would have to live with for the rest of my life.

Brian is amazing, professional and a true inspiration. He is simply brilliant.

I would like to highly recommend Brian Yee as an innovative physical therapist, an exceptional health care provider and a compassionate human being.

I am a 33-year-old male who has been suffering from multiple level spinal injuries and chronic low back pain for over 10 years. I have had multiple surgeries and have been treated by several Physical Therapists with little positive results. This all changed when I was referred to Brian.

My condition had left with me with intense back pain as well as radiating leg pain and numbness. My mobility and endurance had been severely compromised and I feared that I would soon be totally unable to care for my infant daughter. As a talented physical therapist and a new father, Brian identified with my needs and set out to create a plan to improve my health.

On my first visit I was expecting the usual set of standard questions and standard treatment plan that I had experience from other physical therapists many times before. It was usually a routine set of stretching exercises without much time devoted to my particular needs. To my surprise, this was not the case.

From day one, Brian took a great deal of time to really understand my unique needs. Instead of initiating a broad-spectrum routine, he developed a plan that was unique to my condition and allowed for flexibility as I progressed with weekly goals. He spent two to three sessions in the diagnostic phase alone. Once he had isolated my issues, he created an individualized plan that has been unlike any other I have experienced.

In the weeks following he has continued to re-evaluate and update my program as I improve. He remains attentive to my treatment details and monitors the nuances of my condition as they change and improve. I am not completely free of pain (as was never expected) but I have shown a marked improvement in flexibility, strength, and endurance.

Brian Yee’s unique approach has really made a difference for me. He is indeed an expert in his field and I would highly recommend Brian to anyone who is looking for a different kind of physical therapy.

More than three years after two major abdominal surgeries, persistent discomfort and the lack of ability to gain core body muscle tone, I sought treatment from Brian Yee. Brian quickly identified problems with my transversus abdominus and gluteal muscles that were causing a chronic spasm on my pelvic floor. He then determined an appropriate structured exercise regimen to slowly strengthen those core muscles and to prevent more damage. He went on to diagnose gait
problems that had been causing chronic hip pain and suggested solutions. Brian’s knowledge and work have been invaluable in enriching my life through improved health.

I first went to an orthopedist for what was probably sciatica—a twinge in my groin area extending down my leg. I am a former professional dancer, but now have a sedentary professional job. I am accustomed to muscular pain, but I knew the pain I was feeling was different, and it scared me. The orthopedist I consulted recommended physical therapy, and I began therapy with a therapist who really only knew one method of exercises, and applied this method across the board with all her patients, regardless of whether it was helpful. After a few weeks of physical therapy, my pain increased. Not only did I have a twinge down my leg, now I had constant, unbearable, low back pain. The therapist told me there was nothing she could do to help me, that I probably had a herniated disc and would most likely require surgery. I was desperate. My pain was interfering with my work and my social life. I couldn’t concentrate at work and I rarely went out anymore. Finally, my massage therapist suggested I contact Brian, since another of her clients had told her Brian helped him tremendously.

The first session with Brian consisted mainly of Brian asking me very detailed questions about my pain and observing my posture, my gait, inspection of my feet, etc.—things the first therapist really had not done. After about 6 weeks of therapy with Brian, I felt much better. He was able to determine that most of my pain was the product of poor body mechanics, not a herniated disc. At first he utilized massage and heat therapy to alleviate the aggravation caused by the first therapist. Then we graduated to exercises that would strengthen my core, with careful attention to my personal boundaries. He pushed me and helped me to determine what my body could do. Eventually, armed with the knowledge of what was causing my discomfort and what I could do to fix it, Brian discharged me from his care. Like a baby bird leaving the nest, I was very anxious at first, but Brian assured me if things flared up again, he would be there for me. But his advice and knowledge have been invaluable to me, and my condition has steadily improved in the months since I left his care. I am now essentially pain free and refer anyone I know with back pain to Brian. Not only is he very knowledgeable, but he listens to his patients.
