Motion Stability

Specialty Services - Sports Injury Prevention

Although this is very helpful, Motion Stability utilizes a multi-tiered and –faceted approach that can comprehensively analyze why an athlete may be experiencing current or previous injuries. This multi-faceted approach includes finding key factors in the athletes' strength, flexibility, and movement patterns that may deter them from having an efficient technique in their sport.

Sports Injury Prevention

We offer various levels of sports injury prevention programs to individual athletes, coaches, and teams.

This includes:

Functional Movement Screen

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a screening tool that can be performed on teams or individuals to identify if they are at risk for injury and decreased performance. It is a seven step test that scores the athlete on key movements in the body that are fundamental in majority of sports. Based on the score, the practitioner is able to quickly identify key weak links in the athletes' movements. Data with the FMS shows that certain lower level scores are predictors of athletes at risk of injury. Motion Stability is able to conduct the FMS either at our clinic or coordinate services at the teams' practice location.

Pain / Injury Analysis

The big question many athletes ask when they get injured is "Why did this happen?" Through Motion Stability's in-depth approach, we are able to specifically identify the sources and contributing factors as they relate to the athlete's condition. This could include improper range of motion, stability, and inefficient movement patters that over time cause the tissues in the body to breakdown and become injured. Athletes trying to play through pain often cause further abnormal movement patterns and if not corrected can lead to more widespread dysfunction. It is important to identify the risk factors as they relate to their sport and address them effectively.

3D Motion Analysis

Motion Stability has a rare opportunity to utilize 3D motion capture imaging at Terminus Club to recreate and visualize the specific movements an athlete goes through in competition. This allows us to pinpoint any inefficiency or biomechanical breakdown with relative certainty. With this tool, we measure what the athlete can do physically and how that plays out dynamically in competition.

Coaching / Trainer Collaboration

Throughout the entire process, the Motion Stability team is constantly communicating with the athlete's coach and trainers. Understanding the coach's perspective helps guide our assessment and determine if their physical findings are able to match the demands that are placed on the body in their sport. It is also important for the coach and trainer to understand why the athlete is injured or what their injury history means for future training and competition.

Depending on the athlete's or teams' needs, Motion Stability offers various levels of injury prevention analysis. Please contact us for further information on programs and pricing.
